Self-Care

The aim of this page is to provide resources that patients can access without having to wait for a GP appointment or referral. We hope it will help patients to be proactive in maximising their health and wellbeing. More resources will be added over time.

Caring for Children With Coughs

The University of Bristol has produced this excellent guide on how to look after a child who has a cough (not due to asthma).

Healthy children will typically get a cough 7-10 times a year. Coughs can last for 3-4 weeks and make your child feel quite unwell, but will still get better by themselves. This leaflet gives advice on simple rememedies that can help your child feel a bit better and help them sleep. It also contains advice on when you should seek help from a health professional.
